Overview

The Solar PV Remote Monitoring & Security Platform is a full-stack IoT web application developed to simplify the monitoring and management of standalone solar photovoltaic systems. The platform provides real-time telemetry, interactive dashboards, historical analytics, and intelligent simulations, enabling operators to monitor system performance from anywhere.

Security is a core component of the solution, featuring JWT authentication, multi-factor authentication (MFA), role-based access control, and secure WebSocket communication. Administrators can manage inverter inventories, users, and monitoring systems, while operators gain access to live power flow visualization, system alerts, weather-aware analytics, and performance reports through an intuitive interface.

The challenge

Monitoring standalone solar PV systems often requires frequent on-site inspections, making fault detection slow, costly, and inefficient. Existing monitoring solutions also provide limited application-level security, exposing sensitive operational data to unauthorized access.
